Jawaharlal Nehru Museum, Itanagar 


The Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum also referred to as Jawaharlal Nehru Museum is the state museum of Arunachal Pradesh, in Itanagar. Established in the 1980s,  it showcases aspects of tribal life of Arunachal Pradesh, India. These include clothing, headdress, weapons, handicraft, music instruments, jewellery and other artifacts of daily use and culture, besides archeological finds.

Over the years, the museum has become an important tourist destination in the state capital.


Collection and activities :

The ground floor of the museum houses an extensive ethnographic collection, including traditional art, musical instruments, religious objects, and handicrafts, like wood carving and cane products, while the first floor has archaeological objects found in Ita Fort, Noksparbat and Malinithan in West Siang district.

Apart from its collection, the museum runs a workshop for traditional cane products at its Handicrafts Centre. The museum shop sells tribal handicrafts.

In 2011, Tapi Mra, the first person from the state to scale Mount Everest, donated his entire expedition gear to the museum.

Bhagwan Mahavir Government Museum, Kadapa



Bhagwan Mahavir Government Museum is an archaeological museum located in the Kadapa City of Andhra Pradesh. It was established in 1982 by the government to protect the ancient artifacts of archaeological importance. It' establishment was funded by a Jain businessman and hence was named after their deity Mahavira. The idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Vishnu, Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva are present inside the museum which date back to the period between the 5th and the 18th century. All these antiquities made of granite, dolomite, limestone, bronze icons were found in the excavations carried out at different places of Cuddapah, Hyderabad and Kurnool districts.



























Timings: The Museum is open from 10.30 AM to 5.00 PM and closed on Fridays and Public Holidays.

Entry Fee: Rs.3/- for adults and Rs.1/- for children.

Visakha Museum, Visakhapatnam


 Visakha Museum (Full name: Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Museum) is a museum located in the port city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, India which houses the historical treasures and artifacts of the Kalingandhra region. It was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Janardhana Reddy on October 8, 1991, owned by Government of India.

Visakhapatnam is a popular tourist destination with a history dated back to 260 BC. Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Museum, more popularly known as the Visakha Museum has taken the huge task of preserving the records of the great history of Vizag city.

Situated on the RK beach road, Visakha museum attracts a huge number of tourists thronging this place to see the historical treasures and artifacts of the Kalinga Andhra region. Once a ruined Dutch bungalow on the beach road, it was renovated and turned into a Museum of great importance. 




Collections available for viewing in the museum include ancient armory, crockery, coins, silk costumes, jewelry, stuffed animals, portraits, manuscripts, letters, diaries, scrapbooks, periodicals, and maps. All of these were used by the early settlers in the region. Many models of warships, planes, and submarines can be found here. There are many historical items presented by different countries too. The museum also showcases a searchlight reflector 30", the route of Vasco-da-Gama's maiden voyage to India and also the words of Nehru, "To be secure on land, we must be supreme at sea."
